It’s Mother’s Day this week in Australia and as a family business, we know there’s nothing quite as important as taking the time to celebrate our Queen Bees as often as possible. As we’ve mentioned in previous blogs; Eco Food Wrap began as a hobby that my wife Elishah researched and developed in our own pursuit of more sustainable, eco-friendly ways to live and shape the future of this amazing planet. Soon we were gifting them to family and friends and it wasn’t too long before we held our first market stall.
These days we have managed to grow that first idea into a business that not only supports our own off-grid lifestyle, but also helps to create that better world for our children’s future, too. Without our Queen Bee and her tireless work, that might not have been possible!
With our world suffering from climate change and other environment risks, it’s looking back to old ways that can sometimes make a difference in our world today. By combining older ideas around raw and organic ingredients and less wasteful methods of living with newer research and technology, we have started to see great things happen from an eco-conscious perspective. I’m sure all of you have a clever gem from mum you carry with you into your life, too!
Our social media manager credits her own Mum for shaping her view of the world. “Mum was all about caring about the world around us. She always taught us to repair or remake things as much as possible- it wasn’t about buying new things to replace everything, but looking at how we could make things last or reuse them.” Says Andrea. “She still has her scrap compost in the back garden and has even started using Eco Food Wraps in her own kitchen!”
The mothers, grandmothers, aunties and other strong women in our lives help our society to grow, and although not all are biological mothers, this weekend is also a time to celebrate all the nurturers of the world for the knowledge they give us. We all have a story or reason we think our Mum is ‘the bee’s knees’, whether it be a great tip for the home or wise truths that get us through tough times.
As a bit of a special treat for Mother’s Day, we have a new collection of prints available for the week that we think Mum will love. Be sure to check them out in our print gallery by clicking here.
As well as this, we are running a great competition on our Facebook page. We have an exclusive Eco Pack for Mum to give away to one lucky Australian follower.
